God Can Change His Mind
Jeremiah 18:7-10 (KJB) At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; 8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. 9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; 10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
The context of these verses is about a nation who offends God. When God is not pleased with the direction and intent of an individual or a nation He cannot them continue to freefall in a downward spiritual spiral. He must confront their spiritual opposition and sin head on.
A nation must either repent of their sin and turn towards God or choose to walk away from any potential of knowing Him on a personal level. God will not keep mingling with anyone who consistently chooses to sin against Him. He must separate Himself away from wickedness and sin and allow the bent of spiritual destruction to run its natural course.
Either the nation or individual will realize the eternal potential for death and destruction is certain and choose to repent unto God. Or they will choose to remain aligned on their chosen collision course of disaster ending up existing among the fires of hell for all eternity.
These verses were inspired to be recorded by God with the nation of Judah in mind, but they can be applied to any nation or individual; both in ancient times and today.
