God Does Not Wink but Sorrows about Sin
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30 KJV)
The time of ignorance about sin was BEFORE Jesus Christ shed his innocent blood to pay for the sin nature of all mankind. Once Jesus Christ shed His precious blood man was enlightened about the availability of the saving power of God and winking at sin is no longer available.
God knew that mankind is born naturally with sin in his heart. Sin has always been a serious spiritual matter which generates a wedge between God and mankind. The ultimate sacrifice of the death and shed blood of God’s only Son was required for sin. Jesus Christ was sent by God in His innocence and perfection to exist in the flesh and be the Sacrifice for sin. He was the only eternal solution bringing knowledge about sin and of eternal salvation from the power of sin for repentant mankind.
The power of God is always greater than sin. Mankind is called to repent of sin because choosing to live in sin is to exist in stark opposition to the holiness of God. Repentance is to regret sin and turn from evil and darkness into the light of holiness and righteousness of God.
