God Keeps Man Upright
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. (Proverbs 24:16 KJV)
Life is a series of falling and getting back up.
This particular Bible verse says the just man will fall seven times, with seven being the perfect number of times. God knows all the exact areas in a just man’s life that need some knee time.
For the just man, it is not he who lifts himself up, but it is God who extends His hand of grace towards him to help him up from a position of falling once again. For the saved man God reaches outward with His strong arm to catch us when we begin to fall, often preventing the regenerate man from falling all the way to the ground but often allowing him to land on his knees for a time.
For those not saved, life is a series of falling and trying to get back up but without supernatural help of God. The unsaved man helps himself back up, when possible, but in his strength, rather than in the supernatural power of God. Often the unsaved man will fall into divers sin unable to boost himself out of the clutches of the evil at work in this world.
