God Loved Israel
Jeremiah 31:3 (KJB) The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
While the immediate context of this scripture verse is speaking about the nation of Israel, The gift of God’s love is available to apply in the lives of every individual today; Jew or Greek. God’s love stands apart from the mushy feely kind of love popular in this world that can dwindle or disappear in a heartbeat.
Sadly, many people are only familiar with fleeting love at work in this world and not acquainted with the endless love of God, never limited by time or circumstance.
Yes, God’s love withstands any circumstance, choice, or adverse situations of life. There is nothing a person can do that will remove the eternal presence of His love from working in this world and the next.
This verse tells us that God loves His nation and His people with an undying love. Not only that, God chose to draw the Israelites to Himself. He desired to wrap them in His love despite their nature to sin and disappoint Him over and over again. The Israelites were His chosen nation, His blood relatives.
Fast forward to today. God loves both Jews and the Greek, or the nation of Israel along with all other races of people, He made His ministry of blood reconciliation available to all souls. God grafted, or adopted each regenerated heart into His spiritual fold. God loves you, despite who you are and where you came from, with endless love. He desires to draw each person to Him and cover them with a cloak, necessary in separating a person from his sin and shame and offering them an endless avenue to live.
The essence of God has not changed. He loves each of us without abandon. However, humanity often fails to apply and reciprocate His love. After a time, God allows wayward hearts to back away from His life and lasting love. God loved Israel, and God loved the entire world (John 3:16), making way for each of us to choose to apply His love and to fellowship with Him forever.
