God Perfects a Man
Hebrews 5:8-9 (KJB) Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.
God does not “wave a magic wand” and “poof” makes a saved man be obedient.
Obedience to the things of God takes faith, commitment, and spiritual stamina from every man, woman, or child who desires to eternally walk with God. God has provided the narrow pathway for having a heart which desires to be obedient. He provides the supernatural power and presence to walk aligned in the heart with Him.
However, it is up to every individual to choose his eternal direction and allowing or denying God to perfect him.
Jesus Christ chose to suffer, not for His own spiritual perfecting, but for the eternal prospect of you and I.
A spiritual position in Christ comes immediately for a humbled man as his heart is quickened alive upon salvation but his perfecting process takes patience and a lifetime of fiery tests and suffering as he sojourns in this world.
A man or woman who is not both serving God and suffering upon this decaying earth perhaps is not maturing in his personal relationship with God.
Yes, suffering produces opportunities to learn and mature and “spiritually ripen” with the power and presence of God at work in the hearts and life of every child of God. He perfects us on this earth and finishes our salvation upon entering the threshold of eternity.
