God Said NO!
1 Chronicles 22:7-9 (KJV) And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God: But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
God did act on the consequence of David’s sin. Though David did plan to erect a permanent house for God to dwell, God told him no! The plan itself was of God. However, David was not the man who God chose to carry it out because of grievous past sins in his life.
Indeed, you understand that God does forgive sin and can remove it from your life. However, the notion that God can and will choose any person to carry out His will is valid then and today. Proven here in this scripture is that God cannot use every willing person. David loved God without question and desired to build a permanent tabernacle to house the worship of God. Great ideas, but these plans were not in alignment with the will of God in the life of David, who had shed innocent blood.
God chose King Solomon to erect the temple. God’s will was an honor for Solomon, divinely elected to lead the people and to construct a magnificent temple to honor and glorify God, who considers every life vitally important.
