1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (KJB) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Fornicators, idolaters, effeminate, abusers of themselves, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners are all critical and practical words given of God. We are going to examine a few of these “ancient words” that mankind has chosen to modify into modern words for sounding more palatable, practical, tolerable, and inclusive. In doing so, they have altered God’s important inspired message. This message was practical in biblical times and in garnering knowledge about sin and for potential personal application by softened hearts today.
Sadly, man has switched out God’s chosen words for others with a softer appeal by using language containing no judgment or finger-pointing by God. Terms such as adultery, sexually immoral, men who have sex with other men, and homosexuals, are included in such modern revamping of Bibles while God-given language such as fornicators, idolaters, effeminate, and abuser of themselves, and spoke of Sodomy in other verses, which has been carelessly tossed in the trashcan of this world.
It is no secret for spiritually regenerated hearts that many new Bibles lead ignorant hearts to believe that God’s terms are hurtful, bullish, and antiquated, or outdated for today’s world that today each person can choose, according to his own spiritually slewed discretion, concerning these vital eternal matters.
What a lie satan repeatedly dishes out to hungry lost hearts.
The very words breathed by God are to gain the attention of lost hearts. God deliberately parsed His pointed message with words that are hard to hear and digest, but are necessary, and spiritually appropriate in preparing hearts to fellowship with Him. Any other gentler approach is laced with softness and even undue femininity which leads a person to discount the presence of great sin and to ignore the ever widening separation from God. Additionally, for men, this ungodly soft approach relaxes their natural-given male character aligning it with a more feminine nature meant only for women.
Oh, my how satan desires to make men softer and more feminine. Especially concerning is the prevalence of more and more males renouncing their God-given male uniqueness, position as head of marriage, and to stand as a father, to lower themselves into accepting and tolerating a more feminine nature which is highly noticeable in their ungodly actions, choices, and character.
When a person chooses to deduce any of these God-given terms presented in these verses above by viewing these words as simply occasions for making personal choices rather than turning from this vulgar sin to accept God’s terms about the nature of sin, and embracing a cavalier spiritual attitude leaves grievous sin at work in the heart. This ignorance about the nature of sin sets a roadblock inside hardened hearts, rather than making room for the filling of the supernatural power and presence of God and especially in having a righteous standing before Him.
What terms seem to be insensitive and uncaring to lost hearts in this world is actually a loving and stern gesture given out of pure love by God for our best spiritual interest. His teaching is akin to a stern lecture perhaps given by your earthly father, or another influential adult, meant to redirect and stabilize you, even if such truth wounds you in the heart of the matter. Often, the truth hurts before it heals, and God always stands ready and able to pick up the pieces of shattered hearts and to delicately construct them back together in His power and presence.
God loved each of us enough to send His Only Son to die on the cross at Calvary so that each of us could choose to live forever. However, to receive spiritual regeneration and eternal life, a person must take the very words divinely given of God as a severe spiritual matter of the heart. Any attempt to discount His message by applying cheap terms found liberally at work in this world is eternally daft and dangerous.
Altering God’s Words in any scripture passage to sound better and pleasing to our ears is a matter of life and death of our soul when looking towards eternity.
Rather than bristle and bend upon hearing what seems to be antiquated biblical terms and cutting like a knife in the heart (Hebrews 4:12), a person must listen ever so carefully to the very Words of God, allowing them to penetrate to the heart of the matter. Gods Words will speak harmoniously, giving generous eternal hope and healing to any wounds festering in his or her heart.
You see, the very words of God have supernatural power and purpose while the words of mankind are weak and spoken on the shaky ground in this world. God’s Words are eternally sturdy and promised to last forever (Psalm 12:6-7). The words of man can fall apart and fade away at any moment.
