God Stands Forever
1 John 2:15-17 (KJV) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
The things that you can see, touch, and taste in this world differ from heavenly things a person can only latch on to by placing faith in God. Indeed, it is easy to understand, loving something or someone physically held and embraced. It is tougher to grasp loving and latching onto a figment of your mind and heart, not seen, touched, or understood in this world.
Some people have a tough time believing in someone or something that they cannot physically set their eyes to view in person as they live in this world. There is a mountain of evidence about the existence of God; however, some fail to trust in anything eternal, but as yet unseen. Each of us has a limited view from our vantage point of this earth. We can hear about God but cannot touch Him or see Him with our human vision.
The physical constraints of this earth can certainly keep unbelievers from comprehending the rich nature and lasting grace of God. When a lost soul looks up, he or she can only understand a ceiling. However, when spiritually softened and regenerated souls glance upward, in Spirit, he or she naturally recognizes the timeless and unlimited nature and potential of God.
