Have You Asked God for Wisdom?
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5 KJV)
This verse makes me think of the braiding of hair. Braiding is a pattern of twisting hair together to make a “cord” or hairstyle that stays amalgamated together.
Braiding something, like rope or hair together twists it into a strong cord which is not easily broken or compromised in any way. The opposite end of the gamut is a particular word being used in this verse: unbraideth.
This word sits in contrast to the weaving of something together. It a word describing an untwisting or coming apart, or an untangling of Truth.
Many people would agree that the wisdom found in God’s Word is impossible to understand for the natural man. However, those who personally know God are quickened alive spiritually to comprehend things of God. However, first, they must ask God for wisdom, and secondly, He promises to give wisdom liberally.
