Hear And Verify The Message

Hear And Verify The Message

Acts 17:11 (KJV) These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Men in pulpits can and do skew God’s message and intent.  Now, this does not mean that every man standing in the pulpit has a dark ulterior motive in mind as they preach to listening ears.  There are undoubtedly instances where a sincere preacher messes up in His approach, message, or his study of God’s Word, for as you know, no man is perfect on this earth!  An appropriate correction is a vital tool that each of us repeatedly uses for maturing in Christ despite our immediate station in this life.

I hope you also realize that each of us is responsible before God for our willingness to hear the truth, our approach to His Word, our study time, and listening to sermons preached from His Word.  In other words, we must listen to and discern what we receive from a pulpit and know if it aligns with God’s Word or not.

Yes, today, Just like in ancient times, we, too, must listen to and verify messages from the pulpit.  Doing so must include ample study time in the Bible.  No person can properly personally apply what he hears from the pulpit to his life without familiarity with God’s recorded ancient message with lasting relevance

Don’t settle for applying any message you hear apart from the truths of God as is recorded in His Word!

I hope you, too, listen closely to messages from professing men of God and verify their content with the Word of God.  Suppose a person chooses to believe everything he hears from his favorite pastor or teacher in the pulpit. In that case, such a person leaves themselves open to hearing and believing a falsehood, whether it is an intentional lie or not.  Know God and Know His Word by reading it from cover to cover.
