Here I am … Warts and All

For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. (Ecclesiastes 7:20 KJV)

Warts are commonly found on many people.  They are often located on the fingers or feet.  They are small outgrowths resembling tiny cauliflower (which by the way is a good reason for never indulging in eating any cauliflower….).  These uneven and raised outgrowths are ugly to look at and caused by a contagious virus.  Warts are more of a nuisance than a serious viral health issue.  The virus can be present in your system before appearing on the outer skin of those infected.

Spiritual warts are a spiritual virus, but with a grave consequences or natural ending to life, both physically and spiritually.  Spiritual warts are a life threatening virus of a spiritual nature. Mankind can accumulate many troublesome warts over the course of a life time while dwelling knee deep in the sinful darkness of this world.  Spiritual warts are found to exist both inwardly and outwardly in the lives of individuals who are unregenerate because they are uninformed or suppressing knowledge of the cure for this disease.

Yes, there is a sure cure for this spiritual disease which has been available for over two thousand years.  The shed blood of Jesus Christ on Calvary, applied to our personal sin, eradicates this spiritual virus.  Jesus Christ’s blood was applied to all sin, making one sacrifice for all men, for whosoever chooses to place faith in His finished work upon the cross.  However, many fail to come before God as they naturally are, sinfully sick with warts and all, seeking the one with the only answer for bringing robust spiritual health to their own inner heart condition; swiftly eliminating this serious sin sickness both inwardly and outwardly.

Left untreated this sin disease allows sin to flourish in the heart with abandon, or without walls and borders or containment, encouraging multiple outgrowths of these contagious warts to appear upon man’s outer skin as well as thriving within his heart.  This sin outbreak ushers in both certain physical and spiritual death at any given moment according to God’s timing and will.

This sin virus is naturally present in mankind from birth.  It exists outwardly in many irregular shapes and sizes, leaving tell-tale signs and symptoms and the offensive and lingering “odor of spiritual death” upon all men.  This virus often leaves behind lasting scars even after heart felt repentance for sin has been presented humbly before God.  After Jesus Christ’s precious blood has been applied, man’s spiritual vision and position is aligned to agree with the holiness and righteousness of God with a lovely fragrance of eternal life lingering about him, but the consequences of confessed personal sin can still hang on indefinitely, greatly affecting the person and others about him.

The Apostle Paul had a thorn in his side, an unknown physical impediment of some sort, which remained troublesome during his entire lifetime, but was not incapacitating for Paul, as God’s Spirit and supernatural strength came to dwell within his heart.  Every person will have lasting effects of their natural sin nature, even as the sin laden warts are excised, or removed and buried in the deepest sea, removed as far as traveling East is from traveling West, all by the supernatural power of God.  God promises the forgiven man He will never go deep sea fishing for any of his sin laden warts. God never desires to go fishing, or laying bare, any of our confessed and forgiven sins ever again; neither should we indulge in digging up our past.  Unless our testimony can help another find the unconditional love and mercy of Christ for proper burial of their sin too.

Man can expect skirmishes, persecutions, and spiritual wars with the devil and his dark natured buddies as he sojourns on this earth, in fact God guarantees spiritual battles will dot our life but He also provides the eternal cure:

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33 KJV)

Battles will be sometimes sharp and prodding but most often short lived, disappearing quickly, as man dwells in God’s Word meticulously, applying Truth and light upon every situation he encounters, as he sojourns upon this earth.  God gave mankind everything he needs, through commandments, precepts, and examples, for living a successful spiritual life but man must choose to apply these eternal answers to his life removing the warts which cover him because of his natural bent towards sin rather than righteousness of God.  Warts will always appear to the natural man in all shapes and sizes brought about by three conditions rampant in this world which encourage and foster temptation and sin growth in anyone who lives unto the spirit of this world rather than thriving in grace and mercy with the Spirit of God:

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1 John 2:15-17 KJV)

This world fosters and encourages the growth of man’s sinful wart condition rather than seeking the only certain eternal fix found only through an avenue of having personal relationship with Jesus Christ which will stand forever.

Religion, baptism works of man, attaining physical health, a bustling career, money and wealth, family tradition, material possessions, having wisdom of this world, and many other hopeless avenues and back alleys many attempt to travel down in an effort to remove their foul-smelling warts, but never find a lasting cure for their mounting spiritual ills.  These worldly side roads lead to having a more odiferous spiritual condition and guarantee certain physical and spiritual death, rather than leading to possessing eternal life and enjoying a personal relationship with God forever.

Are you placing Band-Aids and worldly salve on your stinking spiritual warts?  Or applying heavenly eternal balm gingerly with hyssop found only by embarking upon a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as we lay our sins and burdens down at His feet.
