His Power, Wisdom, and Discretion
Jeremiah 10:12 (KJB) He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
Undoubtedly, you understand that “He” recorded in this scripture verse is a direct reference to God. He is the One who created the earth, established this world, and stretched out the heavens according to His pleasure. You see, according to the inspired account found in the book of Genesis, this earth was formed at the direction and voice of God. God spoke, and He created a blank canvas on this earth and in the first and second heaven that He divinely illustrated according to His will, pleasure, and way.
None of the gods of this world can or ever will have supernatural power, wisdom, or discretion as is found in the unlimited nature of God. This was the message the Prophet Jeremiah was instructed by God to deliver to the inhabitants of Judah in this tenth chapter of the book of Jeremiah, who was smitten with idolatry.
The truth is that God formed all things. Serving idols rather than God is meaningless. Nothing in this message has changed, even over two thousand years later today. Each thing or person, an individual might choose to make into an idol, will face certain death or destruction. Only God’s eternal work will stand the test of time and circumstances all other things of this world will be destroyed.
