History Admonishes Arrogance
1 Corinthians 10:11-12 (KJB) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
Learn from History, learn from your prideful mistakes of the past, and learn from the glaring sinful errors others commit. Every moment of history is for our learning and admonition. The key is to visit the past but not to dwell there. Staying too long to pondering over things of yesterday can have a negative impact upon today.
These scripture verses elegantly point out that history is valuable when gleaned as examples. It can set a precedent for similar events and circumstances found at work in a later date. Many Old Testament events are pointed out in the New Testament by the Apostle Paul, Jesus, and others and used for our examples for learning and application.
