History, Heritage, and Landmarks
Proverbs 22:28 (KJB) Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
The past boundaries and historical events cannot possibly be wiped away, erased, or sanitized from this world. The past always leads us directly to the future even if we agree or disagree with how its particular pathway carved into this world.
Removing a statue or other marker might remove the ability to see about an event, but it will never remove it completely from the minds and hearts of the people.
An ancient landmark could be a boundary line or some sort of marker, like a stone, indicating a special place or an event in the past. Today, landmarks often included boundary pins, figurines or statues celebrating a remarkable person or event important to the pages of history.
Solomon the writer of this Proverb was inspired by God to direct mankind to cherish the many landmarks found standing on this earth. Important history lessons are recalled both by their meaning and location. Not only that but historically ownership of land was often indicated and set by the assembling of important stones.
Though many liberal leaning individuals and groups may not be settled in their hearts about events and challenges they dispute in our past American history, it is not possible to remove or eliminate any historic proceedings as all are relevant to the past, the present, and the future.
of our country.
History cannot possibly be entirely wiped away or sanitized from either this land or its people. History is etched into hearts, placed in the foundation of this world, and erected on important occasions over time. Those who seek to destroy our land’s History can topple and destroy statues but the power and preservation of God is always spiritually superior.
