How Can a Man Give God Less Than His Best?
1 Samuel 12:24 (KJB) Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
Think about the spiritual magnitude of this verse! If a man steps back from viewing his life through any of his immediate and pressing situations, choosing to view his life from God’s perspective life begins to clear up and make sense.
Take a moment to read the inspired words of the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah or Psalm twenty-two. These are verses are prophetic words concerning the life and death of Jesus Christ. Consider in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John that exactly what was predicted about Him came to be.
Ponder about the great suffering He faced, willingly all according to the will and way of His Father.
God and His Son Jesus Christ faced death for your sin and mine so that we could live forever. Calvary was something we could not do for ourselves. God desires and deserves our very best!
The next time you want to complain about a hurtful situation or person at work in your life, or “slack off” spiritually, consider for a moment the cruelty and pain God felt in sending His Only Son. Focus on the horrible suffering Jesus Christ endured on the cross so that you and I could choose to live forever through placing faith in His finished work.
Understanding the spiritual magnitude of Calvary should drive every man and woman to give their best, rather than their leftovers, to God.
