Luke 22:41-42 (KJB) And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Jesus Christ sought out the will of His Father in heartfelt, humble prayer on His knees. He pursued communication with His Father away from His followers and disciples so that He could be in prayerful one on one communion with Him.
Jesus Christ was open, truthful, humbled, and prostrate before God. He was willing to follow through with the will God placed upon His life. Though He could choose to summon legions of angels to come and rescue Him from facing this punishment and cruel death upon Calvary, Jesus Christ desired to fulfill the cup His Father no matter the cost of His obedience.
Yes, a humbled servant often becomes a wounded servant, as did Jesus Christ, in fulfilling the will of God. God must also break each of us a time or two for us to shine brightly in bringing Him all the glory and honor.
