Hypostatic Union: Both Man and God
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJB) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
This verse introduces some basic theology. God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, in spirit and the flesh, are one in the same along with the Spirit of God is the essence of God. Yes, even when Jesus Christ was alive in the flesh He was also alive in Spirit with God. It is a “three prong” spiritual union, or hypostatic union.
Yes, Jesus Christ is now sitting at the throne of God in heaven and comes before His Father in heaven as a mediator for you and for me. A mediator is a “go between” or an arbitrator who seeks the best spiritual interest for mankind.
Jesus Christ died for us and now seeks God on our best behalf. He petitions God for answers to our prayer, to seek blessings, and give us what our hearts desire according to God’s will and direction for our lives.
The Bible clearly declares there is but one way (John 14:6) to God and it is through His Son Jesus Christ, who was in the flesh and in the Spirit of God concurrently. Jesus Christ was God altogether in Spirit and the flesh and now resides as a mediator for us in heavenly realm with His Father.
