Idolatrous Fools Before God
Romans 1:22-23 (KJV) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Sadly, we have many proud and foolish individuals strutting like peacocks in this world with their heads held high, and their spiritual state of heart far from God. Their desire to serve idols and their lost or wayward heart condition do not in any way come as a surprise to God. In fact, God inspired many verses about humanity’s innate fascination with the material things of this world and their replete spiritual state- like a desert, for He knew lost souls serving idolatry would be both palatable and prominent on this earth.
God calls these kinds of souls foolish and idolatrous in this verse and many other verses throughout scripture. We would all do well to take this message to heart and to personally check the contents of our life, making sure that we are serving and savoring God rather than placing any treasures or trinkets of this world in the first place, rather than God, in our life. It is a severe spiritual error to remove or replace God from the helm of our life and relegate Him to the back burner, thereby insulting His divine glory and honor.
Serving and savoring God includes obeying Him and choosing to follow His will, rather than chasing our desires as we sojourn on this earth. This choice places God in front of anything on this corrupt earth. In other words, rather than foolish living, it is living godly in sweet fellowship with Him as we sojourn in this evil world
