If Only I …

If Only I …

Philippians 4:11-13 (KJB)   Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.  12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.  13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

There are many people feeding themselves “spiritual garbage” on a woeful “if only I” bandwagon always winding its way through this dark world.

If only I would have gone to college.

If only I would not have married so young.

If only I had a different job.

If only I would have had another child.

If only I would not have listened to that advice.

This woeful drivel list can continue on and on forever.

Every person alive in this world certainly has regrets he or she can choose to harbor in his or her heart holding them back from living life as they sojourn in this world.  The key is to recognize our sin and poor choices and ask God for forgiveness, then choosing to apply godly dimensions to our lives as we walk boldly with Him into the future.  The truth is once we are honest with ourselves and God, we choose to be content with our present circumstances, no matter the hardships and difficulties involved, electing to forge forward armed with the power and presence of God as we journey through this world.

Yes, we can be spiritually whole and satisfied by making decisions which are spiritually sound.  We can head forward in a better spiritual direction by basing our future choices on God’s will and way rather than attempting to reach viable conclusions according to the unreliable draw and direction found at work in our flesh.
