Intellectual Assent and Spiritual Agreement Are Different
John 2:23-24 (KJB) Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men.
Lack of commitment is commonplace today. Not only is there lack of commitment between men; but often between God and mankind. Just like in ancient times, a man may make a pledge of his loyalty to things of God with his mouth but fail miserably in carrying out his stated intent.
When things get rough, it does not take long for a man to forget or overlook the miracles and glimpses of God he may recognize in this world.
Somewhere between understanding the facts in his mind and the short distance it must go to reside in a man’s heart things go wrong! Truths swimming about in the head are much different than knowledge applied in the heart.
God knows the spiritual temperature and heart condition of every person despite what they may pledge outwardly. Just because a man claims to know God on a personal level does not mean his heart is spiritually aligned with God. God knows your heart.
