Is Your Heart Teachable?
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. (Isaiah 28:9-11 KJV)
Young children are unassuming and very open and teachable. They have not formed their own opinion of God and their hearts are not shuttered tightly against learning about Him. Young children do not harden their heart to hearing the gospel message.
The Prophet Isaiah asked this pertinent question about the people in the Norther Kingdom of Israel:
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine?
It was apparent to Isaiah that the hearts of most of these people harbored evil and darkness and were not open to or interested in learning truths of God. Isaiah understood to potentially to break through the dark spiritual barrier and light up these people with the Truth of God it was necessary to approach them as one might approach young children. This can be done by using repeated lessons in the basic fundamentals of God, bundled together with great patience and encouragement, fostering a greater learning all made possible through the leading and strength of the supernatural power of God.
Isaiah knew it was important to attempt reach these wayward individuals before it was too late.
