Job Looks for God
Job 23:8-12 (KJB) Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: 9 On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him.
Our vantage point from this earth is limited. God can see from all angles, but our present viewpoint is limited by our presence on this earth. One day perhaps we can look from heaven and get a new perspective on life.
Job’s current circumstances were restricted by what he could see and know. He was likely weighed down with many cares and concerns about his ever-worsening state of affairs in this world. This did not keep Job from perceiving that God was still present in his life and recognized his dire circumstances. Job knew that God was present in front of him, beside him, above him, and surrounding him as he faced unrest, ill health, and the death of his family in this world, though God was not able to be seen by Job using his human eyesight.
Every person faces limitations in seeing the physical presence of God in this world; however, we can know for sure, like Job, that God is always present in any circumstance of life even when we cannot physically see Him.
