Laying Down The Wool
Judges 6:37 (KJB) Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.
Gideon was prudent in laying down a fleece of wool onto the natural greenery floor for a testament. Gideon was about to lie down on top of this wool, which he placed on the ground to prove that God would bring dew to the fleece only and not upon the ground about him.
Indeed, you know that nature does not pick and choose areas to frost in a field when the temperature is ripe for producing it. Living in Ohio, when the ground frosts, it does so all over, leaving nothing bare that is not touched by the cold.
Secondly, I am sure you understand that the hand of God controls the timing and placement of all acts of nature, including frost, then and today for nothing has changed.
Though this time of frost was used by Gideon to prove the hand of God in nature, more importantly in this illustration is the saving of the nation of Isreal as God promised, Gideon, the cold, the nation of Israel, and this piece of fleece (probably like a coat) are all things God used in this situation to prove His will. God does use ordinary things to drive home to us His presence and power at work in this world.
God will use whatever is at His disposal in proving His ways and will in any situation. I hope you are willing to be used as was this man named Gideon, in showing the power and timing of God for others to see and comprehend.
