Liberty Eternally Secured
Acts 12:4 (KJB) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
This verse is the only time that the word “Easter” appears in the Bible.
This verse is about the arrest of Peter who, the Bible says, was guarded in his cell by a quaternion (four) soldiers. This is a confinement with the highest level of security. Two soldiers were connected to Peter by chains while the other two soldiers were placed outside the cell.
However, attempts to tightly secure Peter’s captivity was never a barrier to the working of the power and presence of God.
Herod’s plan to present Peter to the people for execution after the celebration of Easter (called Ishtar by the Romans) had taken place did not align with the will of God.
God removed the chains and freed Peter from his captors despite this high level of security surrounding him!
You and I have also been set free!
On this Easter day focus for a time on the presence and power of God alive and dwelling inside the softened hearts only made possible through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Eternal freedom came through the finished work of Jesus Christ on Calvary who rose again on the third day to secure your liberty and mine through faith for all eternity. A relationship with God is eternally freeing, not limiting for the man and woman of God.
