Live By Faith
Hebrews 10:38-39 (KJB) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
These verses serve as the platform for which the “Faith Hall of Fame,” as found in chapter eleven of Hebrews, is developed over time. Indeed, we realize that each of these examples is taken from ancient times when God’s Word was documented, however, perhaps this Hall of Fame has grown to accommodate numerous souls since this time in early history.
Many souls have proven their faith in God over the years. Those of us who are alive this day have many godly examples beyond the Word of God to celebrate and to live by as we sojourn in this wicked leaning word. None of us are without biblical-based standards of godly living.
There is a warning included here in these verses concerning souls who profess a personal relationship with God and then fall back into sin. In some cases, a profession is made without genuine faith placed in God, while other souls genuinely do believe but soon get waylaid apart from God by the many cares of this world. This caution must serve to keep us aligned with God rather than falling into the spiritual mud of this world.
It is no secret that the just in heart always live by faith in God. Genuine faith does not waiver or wobble when faced with wickedness and sin at work in this world but remains spiritually steady and in perpetual alignment with God.
