Love Being Spent and Depleted
2 Corinthians 12:15 (KJB) And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
He was willing to be exhausted for the eternal sake of His children. God was willing to send His Only Son who was to be depleted for ushering in new spiritual life for children of God.
Think about loving parents on this earth who are more than willing to do whatever is necessary for raising his child in the midst of the love and admonition of God. This means a father sticks his neck out to raise his child to know and to understand personally who God. A godly father’s effort is despite all untoward circumstances and pain in serving and loving God (John 16:33).
The devil never makes living for God easy, but God always makes it entirely possible to live for Him.
It is true, there is a cost to raising a family to recognize and know God. A loving father who follows the commandments of God in raising his family will face tough times, even from his own rebellious children, but sowing seeds and perhaps driving the point home will make any spiritual exhaustion faced worth it all worth it.
Just like God loves His spiritual children to the point of depletion, an earthly father serving God and loving his own children will certainly face both spiritual and physical exhaustion often in raising his kids to recognize righteousness and to personally know and love God.
