Misplaced Trust is Foolish
Psalm 146:3-4 (KJB) Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
It is not abundantly clear who the author of this Psalm is, however, his trust placed in God is evident. Some will say this Psalmist was certainly David, who through many trials, tragedies, and triumphs knew where to find lasting hope and confidence despite his state of affairs.
Another thing which is evident in this scripture is that misplaced trust is foolish. It can lead an unsuspecting person off the side of a spiritual cliff without rescue or recourse. Misdirected expectations not ultimately corrected while a person is physically alive in this world will undoubtedly lead only to eternal anguish.
Placing trust in God is a perpetual gift that keeps on giving- in this life and eternity. It is foolish for any person to forgo a personal relationship with God trying to meet his or her expectations with the shifting sands and contrary winds at work in this world, which will only disappoint and destruct.
