Moderation Inhibits Overindulgence
Proverbs 25:16 (KJB) Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
Self-discipline is key in every aspect of life. Now certainly you would agree that not many people have a problem overindulging in something that is not pleasant or enjoyable to them. We tend to remove ourselves from things not pleasant or palatable while desiring to linger near those things which speak to our flesh.
However, for something like the sweetness of honey, which has many health benefits, it is easy to consume too much. Maybe you do not like honey, but fresh and warm cinnamon rolls, for example, are a temptation you simply cannot resist, and you consume too much in satisfying your desire.
Moderation is not only necessary in our eating, but this bite of truth reaches into every aspect of our life as even a good thing can be overindulged to the point of ruin.
It is never good to overindulge in anything in this life, including anything that tempts and tantalizes us in our flesh. A temptation may entice us with sweetness but in the end, can fill our life with a belly full of sorrows and trouble.
