My Ways, Your Ways, God’s Way
Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJB) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
God has a specific purpose for each life.
Sadly, often, a person desires to think of himself, have his way, and to disregard any input and direction of God. Rather than living a Galatians 2:20 life, the natural man can be quite selfish and stubborn and stuck in his ways, giving little or no thought to following the desires and direction of God.
The Prophet Isaiah, here in this verse, attempted to get the ancient people about him to understand that God’s thoughts, ways, and desires are above that of any man. It is not because God desired to “lord it over” anyone. Or that God elevated Himself above others just because He could.
God is naturally set above any person in this world and the world to come from the beginning. His ways are beyond our limited understanding. His thoughts are above anything that we can even imagine from our imperfect vantage point in this world. God is infinite, and we are finite, bound by parameters that have no hold on the supernatural power and presence of God.
My chosen pathway and yours are always fruitless as compared to the divine direction of God. God is unrestrained in power, and humanity is always limited. The Prophet Isaiah recognized the infinite power, perfection, and presence of God alongside the incomplete nature at work in humanity.
