No Fear But Faith
Matthew 14:26-27 (KJV) And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
How many of you can remember from childhood weebles wobbling but not falling down? Weebles were a childhood toy likely not easily located in this world today. They were egg-shaped little people who could bob and sway without falling over. Maybe professing Christians could learn a thing or two from them!
Let’s start with Jesus’s disciples in this boat. Here they were, in a boat bobbing in the water, and they spotted a man walking on water towards them. However, this man was none other than Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is God, and a human filled with the Spirit of God. The presence of the Spirit of God sets Jesus Christ apart from all other humans present in this world. to this end- Christians should be able to stand firm inside a personal relationship with Christ despite the storms brewing about them in this world.
These verses also speak to our hearts and minds to this day. Listen in faith and apply it to your life. Every child of God can push lingering fear away and move closer to God and rely upon Him even in those times that we cannot understand the state of affairs at work about us in this world.
Jesus Christ called out to these men, His chosen disciples, to have no fear. Though Jesus was walking on water, He was the man who had personally chosen them for service in His ministry. Jesus called on them to have faith rather than fear of what they did not yet recognize or understand.
