Not All People Can Comprehend Truth
John 8:45-47 (KJB) And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47 He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
It is true, some people have the “deer in the headlights look” when approached about things of God. Other people might think they know all about God but are sincerely wrong. What stands in the way of a lost heart hearing and knowing about God?
Sin is the culprit. Ears are shuttered, minds are closed, and hearts remain dark because of the presence of sin at work in the heart. Sin is the reason that many souls are lost about things of God for it turns the volume of God down and boosts the noise of this world.
However, those hearts that sincerely belong to God hear His voice. The Bible likens this hearing to a sheep and their shepherd. Sheep are often considered to be dumb animals who spend most of their time grazing about in the field. They gather to their shepherd when He calls them into the sheepcote. This is an Old Testament picture of the children of God hearing their Shepherd, which is Jesus Christ.
If you genuinely profess to be a child of God, your ears are wide open to hear and respond to the divine direction and desires of God. If you are professing of having a personal relationship with God in vain, your ears have been shuttered tight from hearing His message of Truth and genuine spiritual fruit will not be found working in your life.
