Not Heresy but Conviction of The Heart
Acts 24:14-16 (KJB) But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: 15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. 16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.
The Apostle Paul set the record straight about his convictions, based upon: “believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets…” Paul did not trust in what he heard other men speaking, what seemed good, or place hope in opinions and revelations of man.
You see, Paul did not just pull his beliefs out of a hat, make them up, or find them in listening to other people who perhaps were making false claims. His testimony concerning truth is evident here in this scripture. His faith remains based on personal convictions founded in the wisdom given of God. Yes, the Apostle Paul placed hope in God. In things that are holy, perfect, and timeless and unadulterated by wickedness at work in this world.
Paul’s personal decision leads to eternal principles instilled in the heart of the matter rather than relying upon persuasion and idle talk found in this world.
This spiritual foundation and truth ring true concerning genuine convicting inside the hearts of sincere professing Christians today. Each professing Christian is grounded in the truths of God and apart from the desire to sin, is spiritually changed, and balks at following after things of this world.
