Not In Meat And Drink
Romans 14:17-18 (KJB) For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
God’s focus does not dial in on the externals of life, such as our choices in meat and drink. His emphasis is on the condition of the heart, whether it be in a saved or lost spiritual state. That said, God takes note of our choices and actions and whether we cultivate genuine fruit production.
It is true, a spiritual change in heart from the work of God will alter the desires and actions of humanity. A regenerated heart will naturally desire to please and serve God and will have an abundance of the fruit of the Spirit. A sincere child of God will serve Him and respected by his peers in this world.
So many times, a person or group will have a ministry centered on the externals rather than concern about the condition of hearts. While outward things are essential in sowing seeds, the heart of the matter must be directed to God as a person desires to serve and savor Him before changes appear outwardly.
