Of No Reputation
Philippians 2:7 (KJB) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.
What is a reputation?
It is a publicly held opinion regarding the state of or condition of a man or woman. It is a widely held and readily available opinion regarding every man. It is an attempt to answer who a man is, or who he seems to not to be, regardless of what is the actual truth is about his life.
A reputation is nothing more than a popular belief that people choose to believe about another. It is often based on outward associations, family, actions, the atmosphere about the person. Certainly, from all appearances, though there was something different, no man on this earth realized from Jesus’s lowly birth that this tiny baby in a manger was God in the flesh.
A man in this world can seem as if he is something he is not. Or he may try to be something or someone he is not.
Jesus Christ was simply born into this world to be who and where God desired Him to be. He was God in this world and now resides at the right hand of God in the eternal realm.
Jesus Christ came to this earth of no reputation, empty of Himself, and divinely filled with God. There was nothing special about Him that stood out or was out of place to any person. He did not come in an elevated fashion but was a man of poverty who was humbled, even to His own death on the cross.
