Out of His Mouth
Revelation 1:16 (KJB) And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
The verses in this first chapter of Revelation include a detailed description by the Apostle John of what he saw with his eyes upon his glimpse into heaven. The truth is everything thing that he saw was so spectacular that he was without words in fully defining it for us. We will not fully understand heavenly things until we are present there.
However, one thing that is made clear, this sharp two-edged sword is coming out of God’s mouth. The significance of this spiritual tool is essential. People often fail to recognize or use His sword, a powerful spiritual force, in their own lives today. This sword is used in battle in Judges 7:20 and meant for our personal understanding and application in spiritual combat as presented in Ephesians 6:17 and Hebrews 4:12 in this world today.
It is The Word of God.
Putting this powerful slicing and dicing tool into use in our own lives is simple and so effective. It is simply quoting scripture. Yes, that is the key, this two-edged sword sharp on both edges merely is swung into action by the quoting of scripture of God’s Word. Not just any words, or words about God, but the actual Words of God.
Far too often today a person chooses to give his or her own estimation, an opinion which is powerless, being merely words quoted by oneself or other men. It is a cheap imitation or fabrication of God’s Word. Who is, by the way, Jesus Christ. The real power of the sword of God is in using His Word and not that of mankind. It is quoting scripture rather than one’s own words and opinion which is spiritually powerful and eternally purposeful.
