Paul Was Given Favor of God
Acts 28:16 (KJB) And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
Though Paul was captive seemingly in solitary confinement and even had a guard assigned to stay by his side, he was given favor of God. This special treatment resulted in his being restricted in a more pleasant or palatable area than his residing in a dreary and dark common prison cell as were many other prisoners commonly placed.
It is true, God favors His spiritual family. Though Paul’s circumstances may have seemed dreary and lonesome on the outside, God had Paul’s best spiritual interests in mind. God is always working one step ahead of us to prepare the way forward.
Though Paul was confined to house arrest and this may have seemed rather restrictive; however, it was a small taste of freedom for Paul. He did not earn being arrested, nor being held captive, he was treated with favor by God for withstanding his captivity with great hope and peace in God at the hands of these centurion soldiers.
