Paul Was Pressing Forward!
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14 KJV)
Are you stuck observing your past in the rear view mirror? Rather than looking on the road ahead, as Paul, to things of God? God is always working ahead for a better today and tomorrow, even in the midst of dark and deadly circumstances constantly swirling about in this world. Many people choose to look today, events in their past, and what they perceive will happen in the future narrowly through the lens of their past. This view may often seem easier and more palatable than peering through God’s eternal holy lens.
Lots wife took time to observe things left behind, and we all can learn a great lesson from her life. She did not make it into the future because she chose to follow her natural inclination to be content to live in her sinful past, rather than face a new future. She did not desire to move ahead into a new life with God along with her family.
God calls mankind to leave the past behind and follow His manicured pathway through today, tomorrow, and for perfect rest in His presence for all eternity. Many choose to follow the endless winding dark paths in this world continuing to spiral out of control and move farther and farther downward. Eventually to end up in the confines of Hell, without the presence of God, for all eternity.
