Perfect, Sure, Right, Pure, Enlightening, Enduring, True, and Righteous
Psalm 19:7-11 (KJV) The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
These verses are rich in spiritually nourishing food for the soul. Read each verse through a few times to let this vital message soak in- encompassing you entirely from your head to your toes!
Especially the first sentence:“The law of the LORD is perfect…”
Yes, the law of God is perfect; there is nothing else better or more sufficient in the salvation of the soul than the spiritual law and work of God. Nothing compares to the perfect nature of God.
God used the hand of David to record these descriptive verses above for expressing His greatness and for detailing the effects of His law. Several words are used in describing the nature of God, including perfect, enduring, sure, enlightening, clean, true, righteous, and sweeter than honey. Indeed, you can easily understand the pleasing nature expressed about God, which is far above the nature at work in this world.
The work of God is also highlighted, including His testimony, His statues, His Law, His commandments, His judgments, and God’s eternal reward. His work is comparable to none other and is supernatural or above that of this world. Not only that, but things of God are eternally enduring.
God’s nature and His law are above all things. Not only that, but God’s work is pure and perfect, not marred by the sin at work in this world, and will last forever.
