Peter Proclaimed God’s Truth Is For All Nations
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. (Acts 10:34-35 KJV)
Peter was known to be rash and impulsive. Sometimes the moment he opened his mouth, he began to speak before giving much thought to his words coming out! This statement he made “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons….” must have been met with great shock by some people in the crowd.
Peter was a Jew and was emphatically stating to this crowd that God was no respecter of persons. Most Jewish people were guilty of viewing themselves better than others, especially better than Gentiles. The Jews knew that they were God’s chosen people and had trouble accepting what Peter was proclaiming to be truth.
God would accept anyone!
This message was profound to many Jews. Peter was about to present the Gospel Message to Gentiles. God’s message was open to anyone who would hear it and repent, viewing the nature of sin as God does, and turning from it.
