Pleasing God Not Man
Galatians 1:10 (KJB) For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
It’s true, what is pleasing to men is not often pleasing to God. Likewise, what is pleasing to God is not pleasing to man. This brings up the age-old question: Am I to please man or God?
For the sincere man and woman of God, this kind of question generally does not cause them to be stumped at what they should do with their own life. God has made it abundantly clear in His Word that every child of God is to please Him first and foremost. In doing so we are choosing to follow in His direction and to serve Him with our whole heart.
Otherwise, choosing to attempt to please both God and man will eventually send every person to a spiritual crossroad where he must make a choice between serving God and man. Giving some heed to this world and choosing to serve God part-time is detrimental to any person’s spiritual walk. Doing so leads to a spiritually unhealthy heart condition and a lukewarm temperature flowing inside us.
