Power Over Life and Death
Revelation 1:18 (KJB) I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
This verse refers to the deity of God. It points to the birth, death, and resurrection of His Only Son Jesus Christ, and refers to both His presence in the beginning and His existence for forevermore. God was, is, and forever will be alive.
Take special note of the verb tense used in this scripture verse. He was dead but I am alive.
I am is clearly recorded in the present tense. Otherwise, it would state was alive to refer to an individual now dead. But it clearly indicates He living in the here and now and forevermore. Not only is He alive today, but He holds the keys to your life and death. Not a person is born that He does not know, or not a person dies who He is not acquainted with and aware of his or her passing.
Lastly, God knows all about you, including the spiritual condition of your heart. God alone holds the keys to your life and death. One day soon, maybe tomorrow, could be the day of your death. I hope you personally know God for He holds the location of your new eternal address in His hand.
