Practical Application For Us
Galatians 5:24 (KJB) And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
The book of Galatians, authored by Paul, gives us many applications concerning the difference between works and in attempting to follow the Law of God. One method relies upon selfish ambitions while the other rests on the finished work of God on Calvary and God’s will.
Crucifying the flesh to do God’s will is only possible through permitting Him to direct and determine our steps in this world. Doing this sets a person apart from selfish desires and affections and ties him or her to the divine aspirations of God for his life.
Literally, this verse indicates that a child of God chooses to lay down his or her ideas and personal ambitions and desires to follow the will of God for his or her life. This choice makes their life all about God by moving away from serving selfish ambition.
Each of us must look within and ask ourselves, who do we serve? Our desires of the will and direction o God divinely placed upon our life?
