Isaiah 53:6 (KJB) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Willful wandering was not prevalent in ancient times only. This kind of nonsense is still fashionable and working in the hearts of many people to this day. It is true; many people desire to “do their own thing,” by living a self-willed life rather than following what God’s will is for their life.
Sadly, God desires the best for each of us, but often, just as this ancient verse predicts, a person thinks he knows what is best and chooses his pathway which most often leads away from God rather than closer to Him. A person wanders being free from submitting to the directional presence and power of God as he sojourns in this world and entangling himself in the wicked nature at work in this world.
Sin is closely associated with a wandering nature, while a clean heart aligns with the desires and direction of God. Directionally challenged people either do not personally know God or have failed to listen and apply His divine guidance in their life, just as God predicted would be prevalent many years ago.
