Purchased By His Blood
1 Corinthians 7:23 (KJB) Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
This short verse is filled with a significant truth of God. It should always reside near and dear to all genuine professing Christians heart, causing them all to desire to worship and serve Him with great gladness.
“Ye are bought with a price…”, what exactly does that mean?
Have you ever considered the enormous cost Jesus Christ willingly paid for sin? The weight, or Burdon, He willingly bared for all mankind? A better understanding of the burden He chose to bear while bleeding out (not just dropping a few drops of blood), can help a person understand and thereby desire to serve God with their whole heart.
He paid the price for the presence of all sin; past, present, and future. His gift to us caused Him to bare great havoc emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It brought Him excruciating physical pain, persecution, and finally, a horrible physical death for in His blood there is life, without Him shedding it, there is only death.
His shed blood sacrifice was the only thing which could satisfy the debt of sin forever.
The possibility of freedom from sin is an eternal gift that keeps on giving and was made possible by His willing shed blood sacrifice. His gift is for all mankind, but each person must personally choose to open His gift and apply on the doorpost of his or her life. In doing so, a man desires to serve God rather than other men or to be led astray by the god of this world.
