Put Your “Big Boy” Pants on And Grow Up!
Hebrews 5:13-14 (KJB) For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
The diet of an infant is certainly much different than that eaten by an adult.
An infant’s life starts out with small digestible meals containing liquid, or milk only. He slowly progresses to softer foods he can chew and progress forward to meat in his maturity.
A spiritual diet of biblical truth moves onward much the same. A man or woman of God starts out with a course in the simplest truths of God. He or she builds upon a foundation of personal salvation with the addition of simple foods found in His Word. As spiritual growth progresses, a man or woman of God can begin to digest a diet which includes softer spiritual foods leading to an addition of meat and mature foods.
Once the child of God has progressed through his “newbie spiritual diet” he is ready to digest and be clothed in the more substantial truths of God. This diet filled with greater godly truths and mature substances require the presence of “spiritual teeth” for any chewing and digesting.
Once a man or woman of God is spiritually aged and mature he should feed himself on giant helpings of God’s grace and Truth laced with dollops of mercy. A grown man should choose to attire himself in respectable adult attire leaving his diapers and diet of infanthood behind in the past of his youth, thereby pulling on his “big pants” as he grows and matures in his personal relationship with Christ!
A man and woman of God are responsible before Him to grow and mature in all things of Christ (2 Peter 3:18). He cannot continue to wear the infant clothes of his youth and profess to be a man or woman who has grown up in Christ.
