Ready with A Proper Response
1 Peter 3:14-15 (KJB) But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
Fear is a wonderful thing; that is when God is the object of fear. Any person who fears God and is open to His direction and desires and can give others a straight answer for his or her hope and faith for today and tomorrow. A child of God can rest comfortably upon the power and presence of God in any moment or circumstance without unnecessary distress or anxiety about the future.
Fear which is based on things, events, and people in this world is nothing more than a quaking foundation which is never reliable, stable, or sturdy. This kind of distress does not present hope or answers for today or tomorrow. This kind of fear can only cause restless hearts to quiver with anxiety and dread, especially towards the unknown.
Fear of God gives a person calmness about this world and for the future even when the answers are not found right before his eyes. Fear of things, people, and events in this world offer no solutions today or regarding eternity. A sincere child of God is always ready with the proper response and an unquenchable eternal hope despite the state of his or her affairs.
