Rejoice, Weep, And Be Unpretentious
Romans 12:15-16 (KJV) Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
These verses give us three directives to accompany our church fellowship and to apply in our everyday relationships as we walk in this world. God directs us to rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who mourn, and not to be conceited.
These verses impart valuable interpersonal relational guidelines that can alter our relationship with God and others, whether in and out of the church. Indeed, you understand that the Apostle Paul firsthand speaks this directive to the Roman Church. However, that said, this inspired decree is applicable for us as well today.
It is easy in this cold corrupt world to find yourself uninterested in others’ struggles, fail to rejoice when others succeed, and be high-minded rather than to place others’ needs above your own. However, God asks the Roman congregation and us today to put others’ needs and struggles above our own or to treat others as Jesus does.
