Righteousness Only Comes by God
Galatians 2:21 (KJB) I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Paul is trying to clear lingering confusion about mixing law and grace. Attempting to blend the two together only serves to frustrate the grace of God. That is precisely why God sent His Only Son to die on Calvary. His unmerited favor can affect man with His righteousness for the keeping of the law is an impossible spiritual feat.
The Bible is very clear in Romans 3:23 that no person can accomplish his own goodness for all mankind is born innately sinful and spiritually dead. There is no eternal hope found for a spiritually dead man apart from having the quickening supernatural presence of God at work inside his heart.
Mankind cannot capture holiness and righteousness in his own merit. It takes the presence and supernatural power of God to work inside his heart. If man could keep the law of God it would not have been necessary for Jesus Christ to die upon the cross at Calvary.
