Isaiah 3:11 (KJV) Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
If a person reads only the title to this devotion without reading the scripture above, they may think it concerns God’s rewards for right living. However, this scripture from the book of Isaiah is speaking about rewards given for riotous living. Righteous living and wild living are something quite altogether different, and each provides its rewards.
I hope you understand that each person will face the rewards of living on this earth, whether it be spiritually godly or ugly living. There is undoubtedly good news for righteous folk, for God will certainly reward His own for savoring and serving him on this earth. However, for any person who chooses to live for themselves and to serve the god of this world, his reward will match his choice of ungodly living. The kind of prize one wins in doing evil works and savoring the god of this world is undoubtedly an eternal nightmare that lasts forever, and in the end, not a distinction that any soul relishes.
I am sure you have heard the saying, “be careful what you wish for…” It is true; we must be cautious about what we ask for, literally. God means business when it comes to sin. God never mentions the consequences of sin lightly; rather, He clearly depicts what happens to souls who choose to repeatedly sin, especially what happens upon their physical death.
The spiritual bottom line- every soul is rewarded for the type of life lived on this earth. This scripture verse, among many others, tells us what happens to the wicked at heart as they rightly reap the reward of ungodly living.
