Satan Is the Great Manipulator
Genesis 3:1 (KJB) Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Satan is the original dark angel who thoroughly enjoys manipulating God’s Truth into what he desires it to say. Satan enjoys changing truth into lies and is just waiting to trip unsuspecting people, like Eve, into believing his words rather than what has been divinely recorded in God’s Word.
In the time of Adam and Eve, there was not such a thing as a printed Bible. Adam, the first man, lived in a time when God gave Him truth straight from His mouth rather than through the written word, an interpreter, or an intercessor. Adam, in turn, was directed to teach Eve, his helpmeet and wife, about God.
The very words God used in the beginning with Adam are no different than what is recorded for our learning and admonition today. However, we live in a time that is post-Calvary. The people alive on this earth today have been born in this age of grace and can read first-hand accounts of Adam and Eve, and every other divine word included in His Word. Not only can we learn from Adam’s choice to eat of the fruit, we can learn from the second Adam about the completed spiritual transaction upon the cross of Calvary.
Perhaps Eve was gullible, in not personally knowing the Words of God, but Adam understood and made a choice to sin following the deadly action of his wife. Eve was tricked into her disobedience, but Adam willfully sinned to save Eve. Adam was an Old Testament picture of Christ who would save the entire world from the burden of sin.
